How many follow up visits are usually required ?
The number and frequency of follow up visits depends on the individual patient case, however most patients are asked to come back within 2-3 weeks for a first follow up in order to assess progress and make any changes if necessary. A second follow up visit may then be done 4-6 weeks after this. In some cases, patients may choose to see Dr Holewa more regularly if coaching is part of the plan however all options will be discussed with you (the patient) so that you can decided together what the best approach is depending on your individual needs.

I'm interested in food allergy testing. How does that work and what does it cost ?
The food allergy testing is an IgG blood spot test for 96 foods. It involves having a sample of blood taken from your finger in office by Dr Holewa. The sample is then sent to an outside lab for assessment and the results typically take 3 weeks to come back. Once the results are back, you will be contacted to have a 60 minute consultation in order to go over the results and establish a meal plan and any other recommendations. The cost is $360 dollars (this includes HST) and must be paid at the time the sample is taken. This fee includes the cost of the testing and the nutritional consultation.

I'm interested in Lab Testing. How does that work ?
Dr. Holewa is able to requisition labs from lifelabs, however these are not covered by MSP or most other insurance providers. Many labs can be done through your family physician but Dr Holewa can help to recommend which lab tests may be important and determine with you what the best option is for testing. All of this will be discussed during your initial consultation.
